Trail Blazers target Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony nba news

NBA News: Houston and New York were reportedly trying to get at least one other team, but probably two, to help get a trade done for Carmelo Anthony, and it is now reportedly known who they were trying to get to help them get that deal done.

The Trail Blazers were apparently one of those teams they were recruiting to take Melo off the Knicks’ hands. However, according to ESPN, the Trail Blazers now have no desire to help Melo make his way to Houston. They actually want him in Portland for themselves.

“One team that New York and Houston had hoped would facilitate a multiteam trade for Anthony, the Portland Trail Blazers, plans to participate in a deal for Anthony only if he decides to expand his no-trade clause to include them, league sources told ESPN.”
The addition of Anthony to the roster would give the Trail Blazers one of the most dynamic scoring tandems in all of the NBA assuming Portland would not have to part ways with either C.J. McCollum or Damian Lillard.

If they were able to get a deal done, considering the Knicks essentially need the favor of someone taking Anthony’s contract off of their books, it is unlikely they would have to give up either one of their dynamic guards.

So the Blazers want Anthony for themselves now, but Anthony has yet to extend his list of teams he’d be willing to go to in a trade to Portland. That is the next essential step for the Blazers if they want to get a hold of Anthony.
