Chelsea: Antonio Conte explains why he subbed off both Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas in Chelsea FC’s goalless draw with Leicester.

Antonio Conte has confirmed that he opted to bring off both Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas in Chelsea FC’s clash with Leicester on Saturday because they both looked very tired.

The Chelsea boss opted to bring both of the midfielders off in the 58th minute at Stamford Bridge as the Blues pressed for a winner against the Foxes.

However, despite the introductions of both Willian and Pedro Rodriguez, Chelsea were unable to conjure a winner as they had to settle for another goalless draw – their third in a row in all competitions.

Fabregas and Hazard had both started for Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final first leg clash against Arsenal last week and Conte feels that fatigue was affecting both of their performances on Saturday.

Asked about his decision to bring Hazard and Fabregas off, Conte told his post-match news conference: “I saw them and they were very tired.”

Chelsea must now dust themselves down as they prepare for their FA Cup third-round replay clash against Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The west London side are some way off Manchester City in the race for the title and must now switch their focus to trying to finish in the top four this season.
