Cris Cyborg claims being used by Ronda Rousey

Cris Cyborg mma update

MMA Update: One of the biggest fights that could’ve even been made in mixed martial arts (MMA) is one pitting former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight championRonda Rousey against Cris Cyborg.

But with Rousey suffering back-to-back lessons and her mixed martial arts (MMA) career up in the air, the bout may never see the light of day said Cyborg during a recent interview on The MMA Hour.

“I think me and her fight is the biggest fight ever, but after she lost two fights… I really knew she cannot take a punch. I knew this, you know? And the fight is never gonna happen and never happened before because she knows what’s gonna happen,” said Cris via MMA Fighting. “And a lot of people know what’s gonna happen. Same thing Amanda did, I’m gonna do worse. And everybody knows this, and this fight never happened.”

Still, Cyborg will always give Rousey her dues for putting women’s MMA on the map and inside the Octagon. And if the fight between them never happens, then so be it. That said, Cris is adamant “Rowdy” can still make plenty of money outside of face-punching.

“She did a lot of good things, she opened the door for the division for the girls,” Cyborg said. “My coach said he could help train because, you know, it’s never gonna happen this fight. It doesn’t make me sad, you know? I think when you lose the fight it’s not the end of the world, you can keep training and catch up and try again better, you know? But she really don’t need this. Make a lot of money, she can do other things for the sport too, just (outside) the cage.”

At the end of the day, despite their bitter history of trashing one another in the media, Cyborg says she never hated the judoka and says the reason why Rousey couldn’t keep her name out of her mouth was so she can use her popularity for promotion.

“I never hated Ronda,” Cyborg said. “She’s always talked about me, she did that to promote herself because when she started nobody knew her, and she talked about me for people to know who she is. And she opened the doors for women’s MMA.”

While Rousey’s MMA future looks gloomy, that of Cyborg’s looks pretty bright, a she was recently cleared of any wrong-doing by United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA), which means fight fans will be able to see the fearsome striker back in the cage sooner, rather than later.
