Cyril Abiteboul: Renault can score more points
F1 News – Renault Managing Director Cyril Abiteboul is confident that the team can add to its points tally after Kevin Magnussen returned the outfit to the top 10 in Singapore.
Magnussen collected seventh in Russia before the team embarked on a lengthy drought until he managed to round out the top 10 at Marina Bay, adding a further point to Renault’s tally.
Abiteboul is optimistic that Renault can cement recent progress, which included a fuel update from Total, at upcoming rounds in Malaysia and Japan.
“We hope for more of that [points] in Malaysia and believe it should be within our grasp,” said Abiteboul.
“The faster circuits suit us better than the slower ones and we should be able to take full use of the small power unit and mechanical upgrades introduced for the first time in Singapore.
“We are now focusing on the smaller details for the end of the season, and making sure we are exploiting everything to its maximum, including within our operations.
“We’re on a positive trend and want to take this momentum forward into the final rounds in Asia.”
Renault occupies ninth position in the Constructors’ championship, ahead of Manor and Sauber.
