Joe Rogan: They’re throwing interim belts like flyers

Joe Rogan mma update

MMA Update – JOE Rogan has been a UFC fixture since the earliest days of the MMA promotion – but could his days with the company be numbered?

Last year the 49-year-old claimed he would quit if the organisation’s proposed $4bn (£3.2bn) mega-sale to new owners WME-IMG went ahead.

In July, the record-breaking sale went ahead, leaving Rogan’s future hanging in the balance.

However, the comedian has since backtracked on his vow to leave, continuing his work as Mike Goldberg’s co-host at UFC 201 through to Ronda Rousey’s defeat at UFC 207 this weekend.

But with Goldberg having fronted his last production for the UFC, Rogan dropped another hint that he may leave his presenting duties in the near future on his latest podcast.

While discussing the remaining possible match-ups worth of pay-per-view available in the UFC, Rogan said: “They’re just throwing interim [belts] out like they’re flyers that they put on your car when dudes are trying to sell car washes.

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub replied: “You’re gonna see CM Punk vs some Brad Pitt s*** to sell pay-per-views or something.”

“I don’t know what they’re going to do,” Rogan continued.

“Who knows if I’ll even be there for it.”

Earlier today, UFC middleweight Gegard Mousasi claimed he would become 185lb champion by the end of the year in an exclusive interview with Starsport.

“I’m coming for my belt,” he said.

“I’m in my prime, that’s all I can say. If they beat me, they beat the Mousasi there is.”
