UFC 204 lineup already finalized
UFC News – The lineup is set for next month’s UFC 204 event, which is going to be an all-night affair for local fight fans.
UFC 204 takes place Oct. 8 at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
In North America, the event is slotted for its normal broadcast slots; that means, local time, the event kicks off at 11:30 p.m., and the main card begins at 3 a.m.
In the main event, newly crowned champion Michael Bisping (29-7 MMA, 19-7 UFC) puts his belt on the line for the first time. The UFC’s first British champion, who’s No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA middleweight rankings after defeating Anderson Silva and then dethroning Luke Rockhold, fights in his home city and rematches No. 14-ranked Dan Henderson (32-14 MMA, 9-8 UFC), a 45-year-old MMA great who was on a 2-6 skid before a recent knockout win over Hector Lombard.
Seven years ago at UFC 100, Henderson knocked out Bisping after they coached opposite each other on Season 9 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Their rivalry was a big reason Henderson gets the first shot at Bisping’s belt.
In the co-main event No. 6-ranked middleweight Vitor Belfort (25-12 MMA, 14-8 UFC) takes on No. 8 Gegard Mousasi (39-6-2 MMA, 6-3 UFC) in a clash of rivals.
Rounding out the main card are No. 8 light heavyweight Ovince Saint Preux (19-8 MMA, 7-3 UFC) vs. honorable mention Jimi Manuwa (15-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC), heavyweights Stefan Struve (27-8 MMA, 11-6 UFC) vs. Daniel Omielanczuk (19-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC), and No. 15 featherweight Mirsad Bektic (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) vs. Arnold Allen(11-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC).
Bantamweights Iuri Alcantara (33-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) and Brad Pickett(25-11, 5-6 MMA) close out the FS1 prelims, and welterweights Danny Roberts (13-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) vs. Mike Perry are in the featured UFC Fight Pass prelim.
