Yoel Romero blasts Bisping for refusing to fight him

UFC News – UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is not willing to give Yoel Romero a title shot, but that doesn’t faze Romero.

Last week, Bisping said in an interview with SiriusXM Rush that even if Romero, who’s ranked No. 4 in the division, defeats Chris Weidman at UFC 205, he wouldn’t give the Cuban fighter a crack at the title. Romero couldn’t care less what Bisping thinks, as Bisping doesn’t call the shots in the UFC.

“Brother, what do I have to possibly think about what Bisping says?” Romero told MMA Fighting. “He has his own way of thinking and nobody is here to question other’s peoples thinking or desires. That’s what he desires, that’s what he wants, but now, is Michael Bisping the owner or the big boss of the UFC? He can wish and want things, but another thing is that I win, and the UFC sees that I’m truly the one that should be fighting for the title, he’s not going to be able to fight against that. So I don’t worry about, I don’t lose sleep or appetite over what Michael Bisping thinks or says. I’m going to do my job in New York, and we’ll see what happens.”

Although the match-up between Romero and Weidman hasn’t been officially labeled as a title eliminator bout, Romero is likely to fighting for the number one contender stop against former champ Weidman at Saturday’s UFC 205. Romero is coming off a six-month suspension after failing a drug test administered by USADA due to a tainted supplement. The 39-year-old Romero last fought at UFC 194 in December, defeating top contender Ronaldo Souza via split decision.
