Hull city ousts Mike Phelan
Football Update – Hull City have announced their decision to part ways with manager Mike Phelan.
The Tigers sit on the bottom of the Premier League table, having won just one game since they took maximum points from their opening two games of the season.
Phelan was appointed on a permanent basis in October, having taken over the reigns following the departure of Steve Bruce.
“The club can announce this evening that it has parted company with head coach Mike Phelan,” the club said in a statement.
“We would like to thank Mike for his efforts both as assistant manager and head coach over the last two years.
“The search for a replacement has begun and an announcement will be made in due course.”
The club will be hopeful they can make an announcement as soon as possible with their season falling from beneath their feet.
Early reports from the Hull Daily Mail claim former Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett is in prime position to fulfil the role in the early stages of the search.
