NBA News – Boston Celtics small forward Jae Crowder suffered a left ankle sprain during the first half of Wednesday’s 107-100 win over the Chicago Bulls.

“I was told that it would be at least a week,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said after the game.

Crowder went down at the 4:40 mark of the second quarter after landing on the foot of Bulls guard Rajon Rondo following a 3-point attempt. The 26-year-old remained on the floor for several seconds on the ensuing Bulls possession as he attempted to pull himself up off the court. He eventually was able to stand and hobbled directly to the Celtics locker room with team trainer Ed Lacerte. The Celtics ruled him out for the game later in the half.

The 6-foot-6 forward is no stranger to ankle injuries. A right ankle sprain sidelined Crowder for three weeks last March and limited his effectiveness for the remainder of the 2015-16 regular season and postseason.

Wednesday’s injury interrupted a hot first half for the swingman. Crowder posted 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field 10 minutes, including a pair of 3-point field goals. He also added five rebounds. Marcus Smart replaced him in the Celtics’ starting lineup at the beginning of the second half.
