NBA Update – New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis was forced out of Tuesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks in the first half with a bruised right knee injury after diving over the first row of courtside seats chasing after a loose ball.

Davis played only nine minutes before the injury occurred and he remained in the locker room for the remainder of the first half. He returned for the fourth quarter, playing just more than nine minutes before finishing with 13 points, three rebounds and three blocks.

Last week, Davis was forced to miss the Orlando Magic game because of a bruised right quad muscle injury. Davis suffered the injury during Nov. 14 in a 106-105 victory against the Boston Celtics at the Smoothie King Center.

On Monday, Davis was selected by the NBA as the Western Conference Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 20 after leading the Pelicans to four wins in their past six games after starting the season 0-8.

During the stretch, Davis averaged a league-best 33.7 points and Western Conference-leading 13.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game.
