Warriors, Cavs face off in an exciting match
NBA Update: The Warriors host the Cleveland Cavaliers at Oracle Arena for an NBA showdown. The Dubs beat the Cavs in the finals two years ago, but lost to LeBron James and company in the finals last June, and could very well again this June.
The Cavs have had the upper hand of late against the Dubs. They’ve won four games in a row, three straight in last year’s finals to take the title and on Christmas Day in Cleveland just three weeks ago, but this is a regular season game and the Warriors have confidence in any team they face.
“Our team is very confident regardless of who we’re playing,” said Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr. “You know it’s a good thing as long as we’re locked in and ready to roll.”
“The biggest thing with those guys is, you know, their team, they play every night,” said Cavaliers Head Coach Tyronn Lue. “You know they don’t rest, and they play every single night, and the way they go. You know, so their chemistry is down and they’re playing at a high level right now and you know, it’ll be a good game.”
The Warriors are starting to gel with their new edition Kevin Durant, and James has taken notice. “They’re a great team. They’re a hell of a team, probably one of the best teams ever assembled,” he said. “And, you know, they’re going to get better and better as the season goes on.”
When Curry and Durant are hitting on all cylinders, this is one scary team.
“Making sure that we’re both aggressive all the time, whether I’m shooting, he’s shooting or it’s somebody else,” Curry said. “Our aggression will usually open up something for either ourselves or a teammate.”
Durant claims this is not a bigger game, with everyone watching on Martin Luther King Day. “Man my grandma and my mom watch me every night, so I gotta play,” he said. “When they watch me, that’s more pressure than anything else. So yeah, like I said, like I keep saying. It’s going to be a great, great atmosphere against a great, great ball club. We’re gonna see how it plays out.”
The Warriors act like they don’t need a win, but to lose five straight to Cleveland, that could get into their heads.
Warriors fans, don’t forget, Monday is the last day to Dub the Vote for the All-Star game.
That means it’s your last chance to vote for players for the all-star squad. The Warriors have four candidates, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.
